Candy Cane Hot Chocolate Cubes

Now that I’ve experienced a few days of 30-degree temps in Texas, it’s officially (I know not until the 21st) winter. So I decided to try out the new hot chocolate cube/bomb trend. I know I don’t have the patience to make a bomb, so hot chocolate cubes it is. I like to use the candy canes to make them extra festive, but can also hang on the side of the cup and will add extra flavor to your hot chocolate. These have a similar texture to the inside of a chocolate truffle but the condensed milk adds that rich sweetness that hot chocolate is known for.

Hot Chocolate Cubes

Ingredients

1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

12 oz dark chocolate, chopped

12 candy canes, broken in half to separate the hook from the stem

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, heat the cream and condensed milk over medium until simmering, stirring occasionally. You can also microwave the cream and condensed milk together, making sure it does boil over. Remove from heat and add in the chocolate, stirring until well combined and smooth. Pour into a cubed silicone ice cube tray or loaf pan that is lined with parchment paper. Depending on how loose your mixture is, place a candy cane in each cube of the ice cube tray. If using a loaf pan, let cool completely and set up, remove from loaf pan, cut into cube and then stick in a candy cane.

To Use

Heat up 6-8 oz of milk, place the cube in a heatproof mug, and pour the milk over the cube and stir to dissolve into the milk.

Happy Drinking!
